The story began in Soweto, where our founder grew up in a single-parent home. At just five years old, she was designing Barbie clothes and sketching garments—a gift her aunt recognized early on. Her aunt would often say, “Xavhisa mpahla” (sell clothing), planting the seed for what would become Mbala Mpahla. Over the years, her unique style drew attention. She transformed thrift finds into stunning outfits, eventually reselling pieces and styling others. That passion evolved into a brand committed to quality, creativity, and cultural pride.
